UVSA-Midwest

Founded in 2007, the Union of Vietnamese Student Associations of the Midwest is a non-profit, non-partisan, community based organization. Its mission is to empower youth leaders within the Vietnamese community in the Midwest United States and promote Vietnamese culture. The organization acts to connect Vietnamese youth organizations across the Midwest and collaborates with student organizations and Vietnamese community related organizations for events, projects, and conferences.

VIA-1

One of the largest events that UVSA-Midwest organizes is VIA-1 or the Vietnamese Interacting as One conference. This annual conference is held in one of its member schools and brings together communities from across the region to develop leadership skills and create connections through workshops, cultural shows, and more! This year’s VIA-1 will be on March 8-10th and hosted by Purdue University.

UNAVSA

The Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations is a non-profit, non-partisan, community based organization. UNAVSA acts to unite North American Vietnamese youth as well as the international Vietnamese community. UNAVSA is made up of several regional organizations including UVSA-Midwest. By providing resources, education, and social awareness, UNAVSA empowers the next generation of Vietnamese leaders.

Collective Philanthropy Project (CPP)

The project was started by UNAVSA as a way for Vietnamese students and community organizations to help collect funds for charity. Annually, a non-profit organization is chosen as the beneficiary for the year. Vietnamese student associations across the US and Canada then campaign and fundraise for the beneficiary. This year’s beneficiary is Rock-Paper-Scissors Children’s Fund, which is an organization that focuses on providing after-school programs in the arts, bicycles, and summer camps to underprivileged and ethnic minority students living in the rural areas of Vietnam. Look out for VSAM’s fundraisers that will help us contribute towards CPP!

Asian Student Union

The Asian Student Union (ASU) is a student organization at the University of Minnesota which aims to advocate its educational, cultural, social, and community pillars through activities for students and promote understanding of the diverse APIDA cultures to the University. They are easily accessible through their room on the 2nd floor of Memorial Union in room 226. Look out for their future events!

Minnesota International Student Association

The Minnesota International Student Union (MISA) is a student organization at the University of Minnesota that strives to break barriers between international and domestic students while promoting multiculturalism. They can also be found on the 2nd floor of Memorial Union in room 232, so stop by their room or any of their events throughout the school year!
